Marion Virginia Norkin, 101, of Indianapolis, passed away on October 31, 2018.  She was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 7, 1917 to Frank and Ada Treibel.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Norkin; daughter-in-law, Linda Norkin; grandchildren, Bradley (Shannon) Norkin and Cheryl (Kevin) Tedesco; and great grandchildren, Ryan, Colin, Andrew, Kate, Laura, and Jason.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysses (Hughie) Norkin, after 54 years of marriage; and her brother Walter E Treibel of Albuquerque, NM.

Marion grew up in Woodhaven, Queens, New York, and graduated from Richmond Hill High School.  She and her husband lived in Queens Village, NY; Massapequa, NY; Leisure Knoll, Manchester, NJ.  In July 2004, she moved to Westminster Village North, Indianapolis, IN.

She maintained a close life-long relationship with about a dozen of her friends and classmates from Woodhaven – they met regularly in their teens, participated in each other’s weddings, celebrated the births and marriages of children, and together mourned the passing of spouses and each other.

Marion was a homemaker enjoying many activities including shopping, crafts (sewing, cross-stitch, knitting, beadwork), stamp and coin collecting, card playing, jigsaw puzzles and board games.  She enjoyed travel and she and her husband were frequent bus tour participants to many areas of the US and Canada.  Marion organized many bus trips from central New Jersey to Broadway shows, and shopping centers and Atlantic City Casinos.

A celebration of her Life will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018, at Westminster Village North, Tamarack Social Hall, at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Presbyterian Church of Toms River [1070 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753], or The Employee Appreciation Fund of Westminster Village North [11050 Presbyterian Dr. Indianapolis, IN 46236]

My sympathies to the Norkin family. I’m so sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in knowing that one day soon “death will be no more.” (Revelation 21:4) Not only will we not experience death, but we have the hope of being reunited with our loved ones we have lost to death. This will take place by means of the resurrection hope, mentioned in the Bible at John 5:28,29. Imagine how you’ll feel when your dear loved one brought back to life, in a beautiful new paradise on earth! It’s not a mere dream, but a future that will soon be realized. (Revelation 21:5)

My deepest sympathy to The Norkin family…. I know she lived a good long life.. I have tried to keep in touch with her throughout the years after my mom passed away, whether it was a Christmas card with updated news, or a phone call now and then. Last Christmas was the first year I didn’t receive a card. I knew she was elderly but I felt she just wasn’t up to writing… Then a few days ago I bought my Christmas cards and I thought of her.. I went to the computer only to find out that she had passed away… I am so sorry to hear this, but I know she was loved by many, especially her Queens Village friends..
God has blessed her with a wonderful life..
